What is the ECOSOC Youth Forum?

  • The ECOSOC Youth Forum is the annual youth forum of the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations.
  • It serves as a platform bringing together young people globally to engage in discussions on the 2030 Agenda.
  • Participants contribute to policy discussions regarding Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through their ideas, solutions, and innovations.

Event Details

  • Dates: April 16th-18th, 2024
  • Location: UN Headquarters, New York
  • Youth Blast: Capacity-building and training activities on April 15th, 2024, in New York.
  • Theme: “Reinforcing the 2030 Agenda and eradicating poverty in times of multiple crises: the effective delivery of sustainable, resilient, and innovative solutions.”

Format and Participation

  • The event will be held in a hybrid format, allowing for both in-person and virtual participation.
  • It will consist of opening and closing plenary sessions with representatives from youth organizations and high-level speakers.
  • Youth speakers will deliver short presentations between sessions, sharing personal stories and innovative solutions related to the SDGs.

Importance of the Youth Forum

  • Recognized for its value in contributing to the 2030 Agenda and the High-level Political Forum.

Apply as a Speaker

  • A few spots are available for youth to participate as speakers at different sessions of the forum.
  • Funding is available for a limited number of participants (currently 5 funded spots, with efforts to expand).
  • Interested individuals can apply through the application form.
  • Deadline for speaker applications: February 24, 2024, 11 pm New York time.
  • The selection process will involve youth constituencies co-designing the sessions.
